Irish Police sense of humor with Obama Security

Posted by: Steve In: Blog|Humor|Politics|US Politics

US President Barack Obama will be conducting a State visit on Monday to Ireland. Queen Elizabeth II just concluded a State visit to Ireland which was the largest security operation undertaken by the Irish police force and Defence Forces in light of the dissident republican threat.

Although the threat to Obama is far less than that to the Queen the Irish police force have been checking every manhole and utility access drain in and around the possible routes that President Obama will take whilst in Dublin. The same security measures were taken by the police and Defence Forces during the Queens visit. Every manhole and utility access checked was marked with a yellow spray paint. Since yesterday (Friday) the Irish police have been marking all the same manholes etc with white spray…..and they have been getting creative, with plenty of foresight! Take a look….

Why do you keep referring to them as the “Irish police” rather than the Garda Síochána or even just gardaí?

Apologies for the delay, busy week. It was a conscious decision; nothing unpatriotic or anything like that; purley for readership.
